“Nur” Children’s Home – 28 years of private charity
“Nur” Charitable Family Children’s Home is not just a social institution, but a unique model of upbringing for Kazakhstan, based on the principles of unconditional love and professional social pedagogy. We create an environment where orphaned children find not a temporary shelter, but a permanent family and a foundation for a successful future.
The foundation of our reliability in figures:
- 28 years of continuous work — since December 2, 1998, we have remained a point of support for children finding themselves in difficult life situations.
- More than 750 graduates — an entire generation of decent citizens of our country who received a start in life within the walls of our home.
- 100% private funding — for nearly three decades, we have not received a single tenge from the state budget. Our viability is the best proof of management efficiency and the highest level of trust from private donors.
Behind these figures stands a story of personal heroism that has transformed into a sustainable system for saving children’s destinies.
A heroism born of compassion and experience
The history of the “Nur” home began with an exceptional decision by Tuyak Kazkenovna Eskozhina and her husband, Anuarbek Seitovich Baisarin. Tuyak Kazkenovna was not merely an enthusiast, but a professional educator with 53 years of experience, who had worked as a chief specialist in the Ministry of Education.

Her mission was deeply personal: Tuyak-apai had grown up as an orphan herself and knew from her own experience how vital parental affection is for a child. In the turning-point year of 1998, seeing the growing problem of orphanhood, the couple sold their three-room apartment in Almaty. The $35,000 they received became an investment in the future of hundreds of children: these funds were used to restore an abandoned building in Talgar, which lacked even windows and heating.
“My mother used to tell me: there are no other people’s children. The most important thing is for each of them to find their own path in life and become a decent citizen of the country.” — Tuyak Eskozhina, founder of the “Nur” home.
Our approach: Living in a family and preparing for reality
We have completely abandoned the barriers typical of boarding schools. In the “Nur” home, children live as a single large family, where older children care for the younger ones, and practical life skills are learned naturally through living together.
Orphanhood prevention: the “You Are Not Alone” project
We are convinced that the best way to help a child is to preserve their biological family. The “You Are Not Alone” project supports single parents in crisis. We take children under full provision during the week, giving parents the opportunity to find a job and stabilize their lives, while on weekends the children return home. This prevents children from being placed under permanent state guardianship and preserves family bonds.
“Skills for the Future”: an educational model
Our goal is to guide into adulthood an independent individual who possesses a specific trade.
| Category | Description / Details |
|---|---|
| Special Skills and Trades | |
| For Boys | Auto repair shop (machinery repair), construction and renovation skills. |
| For Girls | Sewing workshop (clothing design and tailoring), cooking, home economics. |
| Professional Base | Mini-bakery (full cycle of bread baking), computer lab. |
| Intellectual Development | Fine arts, advanced language studies (Kazakh, Russian, English, Arabic). |
Our pride: We break the cycle of orphanhood
The result of our work is not just diplomas, but the happy families of our graduates. We are proud that our children do not join the sad statistics of “unadjusted orphans,” but instead become pillars of society.
- 45 weddings — these are 45 new families created by our graduates. This is the living legacy of the “Nur” home, proving that the cycle of social orphanhood can be broken.
- Higher education — more than 80% of graduates successfully complete universities and colleges, becoming doctors, military officers, teachers, and entrepreneurs.
- State recognition — the selflessness of the founders has been honored with the Gold Medal of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan “Birlik”, the “Altyn Zhurek” award, and victory in the “Mereyli Otbasy” contest.
Transparency: Invest in concrete results
Your trust is our main asset. The “Nur” home exists solely on private donations. Currently, we face a critical challenge: the building, constructed in 1982, has not seen major repairs in over 20 years. Due to the deterioration of its utility systems, a portion of the premises is forced to stand empty — we cannot guarantee the safety of 50 children until we carry out a complete reconstruction.
We have developed a phased restoration plan for the building (4 blocks). Our current goal is 13,000,000 tenge to restore the first building. These funds will be used for roof repairs, heating system replacement, and facade insulation to reduce critical heat loss.
